Luna Park Melbourne Above, with one of the oldest roller coasters in operation . Be wary for maintainence. Near Luna you can sometime see tiny penguins coming back from eating tiny fish.
Burlesque is very hot all over Australia at this time for some reason.
Burger Kings are called Hungry Jacks here.
Australia is very expensive particularly on vices. I would recommend maxing out your duty free alcohol and cigarettes if you come here but I also wish you wouldn’t smoke in the first place as I want you around as long as possible.

Melbourne has a number of different neighborhoods which have different types of party circuits. In general there are very few super late clubs and bars during the week with a few more on weekends.
(Sorry, this poster seems to have disappeared but some decent tips still) ->Theres an offbeat Locals guide here
There are 2 great instagram gig guides, Sticky Carpets and Mango Snake Agency.
RRR Radio also has a gig guide.
Attraction-
There is a scale model of the universe that is a walk that is 6 kilometers long or about 3 and a half miles. It starts with the Sun, located at Marina Reserve in St Kilda and ends in Port Melbourne with replica planets presented in statues along the 5.9km route, all done to a 1-to-1 billion scale.
Late Night Bars in Melbourne. Make sure you double check whats on as they tend to do whatever they want.
CBD (Central Business District)
Spleen Bar-Multi floor multi function space sometimes with comedy. Closed Sunday but other times open 4 pm til FIVE AM! 41 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000- Late night trams to Fitzroy, Collingwood, Northcote, Thornbury and Preston right outside but those trams only run 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.
Loch & Key-34 Franklin St, Melbourne VIC 3000-Kinda posh spot that is slightly hidden in an alley with bonkers hours of 5 pm to 5 am most nights with a later opening on Sunday but open til 7 am on Friday and Saturday. Good place to come with friends or a date but no bar seats to meet strangers.
The Last Chance Rock & Roll Bar-238 Victoria St, Melbourne VIC 3000-Closed MONDAY. The Diviest bar insanely close to Queen Victoria Market. Only open late on Friday and Saturday when they go til 7 am and when you get out you can actually do your shopping across the street. The cheapest food specials in town Tuesday with a Schnitzel for Ten Dollars and Steak Night Wednesday for also Ten dollars which I don’t understand. Also a great music venue usually harder punk and metal. I was there two times in a week and they had called last call early both times.
Cherry-68 Little Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000-This is the “new” location of Cherry, Originally opened on AC/DC Lane in 2000. About 4 years old as of 2023 thanks to Condo Neighbor noise complaints and all too common landlord crap. Great, small divey venue to see shows at. Claim to have free shows at 2 am on Friday and Saturday but usually actually have to pay a Ten dollar cover (AUD) Closed on Monday but open til 5 on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday they have discount drinks all night with 7 dollar well drinks as of 2023. Many of those 2 am bands are super fun punk or metal and the DJs play all the rock standards.
Fitzroy-
The Old Bar-Classic black box small show room that has had many cool punk and garage bands over the years like the Anomolys. Can be packed or empty but at 1 am, people from other spots pop in and it becomes a hot mess until 3 am when it closes. One of the best late night bars in this area. Gallery Upstairs. Gross bathrooms. 74-76 Johnston St, Fitzroy VIC 3065
Tiki Bar-
Eats-
Bowl Bowl Sichuan-96 Smith St, Collingwood VIC 3066-They have these dumplings in Chili Oil, which they call Mala Sauce and tons of other tasty treats but get something with the mala sauce! Many vegetarian and vegan options too. Closed between lunch and dinner hours
Northcote-
Eats-
Tao Dumplings Northcote-329 High St, Northcote VIC 3070-A rare restaurant with a lunch special but the dumplings are amazing and if you are alone you can actually get an order of 6 for yourself for only around 8 AUD. I recommend you get one pan fried option and something steamed and served in chili oil. I ate here 3 times during one extended holiday.
Lam Lam 2-399A High St, Northcote VIC 3070-Great Vietnamese food. Free tea.
Lambs Northcote-305 High St, Northcote VIC 3070-Not affiated with the other Lambs, this location has tasty meat and the most reasonable prices for a gyro and also have meat only plates for those like me trying to avoid carbs generally.
Collingwood-
Venues
The Gem Bar and Dining-289 Wellington St, Collingwood VIC 3066-Usually free shows played on the floor of the small pub room. Tasty burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries. Often they have matinee shows and have featured TrashyTravel, PunkRockTravel, Hipstertravel favorites the Pink Tiles, and suprise shows by Black Lips and more. The most consistant quality booking because the cool bands like hanging out here. A short walk from the legendary Tote.
