Blues City Cafe-138 Beale Street, Memphis, TN-ribs finished served wet with a coating of bbq sauce and live blues.
Corky's BBQ-5259 Poplar Ave, Memphis 38119, tel: (901) 685-9744-Specializing in pulled pork sandwiches with a scoop of cole slaw on top of them.  This restaurant was featured on Food Networks "The Best of" series.

Large space off an alley.  Ribs are the specialty, served Memphis style, that is, dry rubbed with sauce on the side.
Coletta's Pizza, Home of the BBQ pizza, 1063 S. Parkway East
Memphis, TN 38106,  (901) 948-7652, one of elvis's favorite foods, bbq pizza started here.  Pizza with cheese and bbq sauce topped with pulled pork.

Earls Hot Biscuits, 2005 I-55, seven miles west of Memphis in West Memphis, Arkansas. 870-735-5380. Breakfast place.  Cheap biscuits, red eye gravy and grits.
Dyer's Restaurant-205 Beale St. Memphis, TN (901)527-3937-specializing in deep fried hamburgers cooked in grease that contains elements from the first fried burger done over 50 years ago.  I don't know how to explain it, really, except to say that if you are a foodie, you must have one.  Its not great, but you are eating history.
Huey's burgers -

Jim Neely's Interstate Barbecue- 2265 S 3rd St, Memphis,
TN (901) 775-2304 at Mallory Avenue.  BBQ baloney and spagetti mixed with pork and BBQ sauces, among traditional specialties.  Much better than it sounds.

with cheap and SPICY pulled pork sandwiches in a rundown commercial strip in south memphis.

Said by some to have the best BBQ sandwich.  The cole slaw here is made with hot mustard.
Sekisui-160 Union Ave. and 2 other locations, Memphis-
for those of you who prefer sushi.The Sekisui in Midtown has Memphis' greatest happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. During these hours drinks are two for the price of one and you can pluck a sushi boat from the little river that runs around the sushi bar. Each boat is priced at $2, making this one of the best sushi deals anywhere.
Uncle Lous Fried Chicken-3633 Millbranch Rd., Memphis, TN 38116-in a strip mall near the airport, this place makes a secret fried chicken coating, then dips it in hot sauce

Monell's, 1235 Sixth Avenue North, (615) 248-4747,  meals are served family style at long tables.  pork chops, baked chicken, meatloaf, turnip greens and corn pudding. Very cheap.
2413 Elliston Place, (615) 327-9892, one of the best grilled burgers around, served on french bread, as well as stuff like baked ham with creamed potatoes, squash and fried okra. Virtually everything on the menu costs less than $10. Closed sunday.
